Terms of use

Last updated: 9 September 2026 — version 1.1

This is a translation for convenience. The French version is the legally binding one.

1. Purpose

These terms govern the use of the Sportsiou service, published by HMN — sole trader, SIREN 930 142 765 (« the publisher »).

Sportsiou connects people who want to take part in a team sport: it lets you post a match, join one, find venues and talk to the other participants.

Creating an account constitutes full acceptance of these terms.

2. Free of charge

The service is entirely free. There is no subscription, no paid feature, no in-app purchase and no commission on the activities organised. The publisher displays no advertising within the service and does not commercialise any personal data.

Reservation regarding advertising. The service currently carries no advertising. The publisher reserves the right to introduce it should this become necessary for the service to survive (covering hosting, email delivery and development costs). Any such change would be announced in the application at least 30 days in advance; these terms and the privacy policy would be updated accordingly, and any user who did not agree could delete their account without condition or justification. Preferred formats would be contextual and non-intrusive. Any mechanism relying on advertising trackers would remain subject to your prior, explicit consent, revocable at any time. In all circumstances, the publisher will not sell your personal data.

Being free carries no obligation of continuity: the publisher may change, suspend or discontinue the service, in whole or in part, without compensation. A permanent shutdown would be announced with reasonable notice so that everyone can retrieve their data.

3. Access and account

3.1 Minimum age

The service is restricted to people aged 18 or over. By creating an account you declare that you meet this condition.

3.2 Registration

Registration requires a username, a valid email address and a password. The email address must be verified with a six-digit code before any feature can be used. Disposable email addresses are refused. An account is strictly personal; creating several accounts is prohibited.

3.3 Account security

You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity carried out from your account. Report any unauthorised use to support@sportsiou.com without delay.

4. Rules of conduct

When using Sportsiou you undertake not to:

The leaderboard is computed from ratings received from different players, on real matches. A player whose ratings clearly come from collusion may be excluded from it, without this affecting their account or their access to the service.

Reliability is part of the rules: withdrawing less than two hours before kick-off is recorded and may result in a badge visible to other players. This is a community signal, not a sanction by the publisher.

5. In-person meetings — liability

Sportsiou connects people; it does not organise events. The publisher is neither the organiser, nor a supervisor, nor an insurer of the sporting activities posted on the service. It books no venue, checks no participant's physical fitness, supervises no match and is present at no location.

Every participant plays entirely at their own risk and remains responsible for their physical condition, their equipment, their public liability insurance and compliance with the rules of the venue.

The publisher carries out no identity verification and no background check on users. Apply the same judgement you would to meeting any stranger: prefer public, busy places, tell someone you know where and when you are playing, and leave if a situation makes you uncomfortable. Report any worrying behaviour to support@sportsiou.com; in case of immediate danger, contact the emergency services.

Venue information comes from OpenStreetMap, a contributory database: its accuracy, accessibility and access conditions are not guaranteed. It is up to you to check that a venue is open, free and permitted before going there.

6. User-generated content

You keep ownership of the content you post (username, profile picture, ratings, messages). You grant the publisher a free, non-exclusive licence to host, reproduce and display that content for the sole purpose of operating the service, for as long as it is published.

You warrant that you hold the rights to the content you post, in particular to any photograph showing people.

7. Reporting and moderation

Any content or behaviour contrary to these terms may be reported to support@sportsiou.com. Depending on severity, the publisher may remove content, cancel a match, suspend or delete an account — without notice in the event of a serious breach, in particular endangering others, harassment, or manifestly unlawful content. Any decision may be challenged at the same address.

8. Availability and limitation of liability

The service is provided « as is ». The publisher takes reasonable steps to keep it working, without guaranteeing uninterrupted availability, freedom from error, or permanent retention of data — data is subject to the automatic purges described in the privacy policy.

To the extent permitted by law, the publisher cannot be held liable for damage arising from use of the service, from another user's behaviour, from how a match unfolds, from the condition of a venue, or from a temporary outage. Nothing in these terms limits the publisher's liability in the event of wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or personal injury.

9. Personal data

The processing of your data is described in the privacy policy, which forms an integral part of these terms.

10. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time and request deletion of your account at support@sportsiou.com. Deletion removes your account, profile, messages and match history, under the conditions and within the periods set out in the privacy policy.

11. Changes to these terms

These terms may be amended. Any substantial change will be brought to your attention in the application; continuing to use the service after that notice constitutes acceptance of the new version.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought first at support@sportsiou.com. Failing agreement, the dispute will be brought before the competent French courts. Consumers residing in the European Union retain the right to bring proceedings before the courts of their place of residence and may use the European online dispute resolution platform.
